What I hope to get out of Blaugust this year

This is my first year participating in Blaugust.  I started my blog just over a year ago and at that time I was not quite ready to attempt to blog daily for a month.  Honestly, I have a conference coming up later this week, so I may not even get through one week of daily blogging, but I'll try.

I like to blog in general, not just as part of an initiative.  Very few people actually read my posts, but that is not why I write.  I write to help myself reflect on and serve as a record of my teaching.  I'm also completely in love with the #MTBoS.  I joined twitter first and spent about a year being a consumer in the #MTBoS.  At first I just lurked, then I started to reply to other peoples' ideas and requests for help.  Eventually I found that 140 characters was not always enough for me to share my ideas and Mathsational was born.

I like to share the resources that I create and I like receiving constructive feedback.  I feel like I finally have a platform to return the favors that I get from other teachers in the #MTBoS.

So, that is my goal for Blaugust.  I hope to get back in the routine, reflect, and share.

  1. First off, thanks for joining in! :) Secondly, with blogging, you do you. Some years, I blog a lot, others hardly at all and that's okay! With the Blaugust challenge, the key is to set a personal goal and aim for it. It might be once a week, it might be weekdays only, whatever it is, you do you. I'm just glad you are joining in and I'm excited to read your posts!

    1. Thanks for the motivation! The prompts are awesome. Sometimes I don't know where to start. The prompts just eliminate one more barrier :) Thanks for reading!

  2. Hi Jennifer! I'm glad you are going to give it a try! My blogging goes in spurts as well - and sometimes I wonder if anyone reads it!! But that's OK. I write to reflect and to share.

I look forward to reading your posts! I hope you'll share what you learn at your conference ... I love to learn vicariously through what others are learning!

    1. You guys are great cheerleaders! It is a STEM conference. I'm looking for ways to make math applicable to kids, so hopefully I find a few good ideas to share on the blog :)
